Founded in 1934

The M.O. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art, established in 1934, traces its origins to the National Cultural Research Institute of Kazakhstan, founded in the same year. This institute was dedicated to the study of history, archaeology, language, literature, folklore, as well as visual arts, music, theater, and choreography. In August 1961, the institute was named after M.O. Auezov. In November 1963, a literary-memorial museum of M.O. Auezov and a scientific department for researching the writer’s legacy were established within the institute.

Since its establishment, the institute has become the leading scientific institution for the study of Kazakh literature, folklore, and art.

The institute’s scholars have made significant contributions to the study of the history and theory of national literature and art, as well as the creative legacy of prominent figures in literature and art.

«People's University» named after Rakhmankul Berdibayev

In 1963, the public “People’s University” was established to disseminate scientific and popular knowledge among the population. Lectures were organized under the leadership of Rakhmankul Berdibay, a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan and a professor, at the Mukhtar Auezov Museum-House.

At the “Auezov House,” it has become a tradition to hold monthly lectures and meetings between creative individuals and art-loving youth.

Scientific-Innovative Center «Manuscript and Folkloristics»

The Center’s mission is to restore, conserve, and preserve Kazakh manuscripts in accordance with contemporary requirements, their current status, and importance, as well as to create conditions for their use by future generations.

Bringing manuscript heritage into scientific circulation and systematically publishing them for the benefit of future generations.

EDUCATION AND SCIENCE COOPERATION

At the base of the RGP “National Scientific Center,” a joint educational program for the training of master’s students and PhD doctoral candidates has been operating between the Research Institutes of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The joint program started in 2014. The first director of the project office was Doctor of Social Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Z.K. Shaukenova (2014-2016). Since 2016, the program has been led by Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Vice-Rector for Science and Education Integration of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Satybaldin Azimkhan Abilkhayruly.

Under this program, master’s students and PhD doctoral candidates are trained in the following fields:

ANNOUNCEMENT

On March 12-13 at 10:00 an International scientific and practical symposium will be held on the topic “Cultural heritage of the peoples of the world: ethnomusic, ethnophor, ethnographer”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the publication of the collection “1000 songs of the Kazakh people” by the first People’s Artist of Kazakhstan, ethnographer-scientist, composer Alexander Viktorovich Zataevich.
